The Beloit College softball team wrapped up the 2022 season in front of their home crowd Monday afternoon. The Buccaneers fell to a solid Dubuque squad that won their league title 8-2 and 9-4.
After a three-run top of the first for the Spartans, Beloit got on the board in the bottom of the frame.
Emily Stapay's groundout plated the first run. Another groundout allowed
Angela Donath to score to make it 3-2.
Dubuque's offense picked up with a couple of extra base hits that widened the gap over the next six innings.
Three Bucs registered hits in the first game including Sidda Meyers, Donath and Stapay.
Maddy Pfortmiller suffered the loss in the circle to move to 10-8 on the year.
Dubuque's offense continued to roll from the first game plating multiple runs in three innings. However, the Bucs didn't fold.
Stephannie Lopez cut the lead in half with a single swing, a three-run blast in the fifth.
In the seventh, Donath drew a bases loaded walk for the 9-4 final.
The Bucs tallied five hits in the game, all by different hitters.
Cora Aubert suffered the loss going six innings in the circle while striking out four.
