BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's women's soccer team began the 2022 season on a high note Thursday afternoon, defeating Marian (Wis.) by a score of 1-0.

The lone goal of the game came just 15 minutes into the contest when Beloit's Lauryn Volsta found the back of the net.

Beloit Goal Keeper Audrey Ketterer recorded six saves in the senior's first career shutout. Her counterpart, Amy Birner made four saves for the Sabres (0-1).

The Buccaneers (1-0) will try to keep things rolling on Sunday when they'll travel to Wisconsin Lutheran. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Wauwatosa, Wis.
