BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's volleyball team won the first set of Tuesday night's battle against Eureka (25-19), but would ultimately lose the match in five grueling sets.
Eureka took the second and third frames 25-20 and 25-15, before Beloit tied the match with a 25-20 set four victory. Eureka then won the deciding set by a 15-10 margin. Despite the loss, Beloit held the edge in kills (49-44, service aces (8-5), and assists (48-43).Â
Beloit was led by
Katrina Sanchez's 15 kills and 23 digs, while McKayla Simao led the team with three service aces.
Abbie Schmidt added 29 assists to lead the Buccaneers.
Brooklyn Shell led Eureka with 15 kills, to go along with match-highs of three service aces and 26 digs. Madison Richards and Hope McGinnes led the Red Devils with three blocks and 19 assists, respectively.
Beloit will look to rebound on Wednesday when they'll travel to Carthage College for a 7 p.m. match in Kenosha, Wis.
