JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Playing their first conference match of the season Friday night, Beloit's volleyball team lost in three sets to Illinois College. The Lady Blues took the first set 25-21, before also taking the next two 25-19 and 25-20.
Illinois College (5-9, 1-0 MWC) also held the edge in kills (41-27), blocks (5-3), assists (40-26), and digs (88-76). The Lady Blues recorded a hitting percentage of .149 in the match, while Beloit (2-10, 0-1 MWC) registered a hitting percentage of .034.
Beloit was led by
Katrina Sanchez's eight kills, while
Angela Donath led the Buccaneers in service aces (3).
Abbie Schmidt added a team-high 22 assists, while McKayla Simao led the team with 19 digs.
Jen Humboldt paced Illinois College with 24 digs and two service aces, while Paige Knuffman led all players with 11 kills. Laura Kaiser added a match-high three blocks, while Morgan Burr led the Lady Blues with 20 assists.
Beloit will try to rebound quickly, as they'll travel to Knox College on Saturday. That match will begin at 1 p.m. in Galesburg, Ill.
