RIPON, Wis. - Beloit's men's and women's track & field team opened their 2023 season on Saturday at Ripon's annual Alumni Meet. The Buccanners men scored 66 points, which was shy of the winning score of 120, while Beloit's women finished with 60 points, which was 36 points shy of the top score. Both Beloit teams won three individual events and one relay apiece.
The men's day was highlighted by the throwing events, where
Emiliano Reyes won a pair of events. He finished first in the weight throw with a distance of 47-11.00, while also placing first in the shot put with a distance of 44-00.75. Both throws were more than three feet better than the next-best distance. The men's only other individual event win came in the 400 meters where
Alexandre Atou ran a time of 54.33. The Buccaneer men also won the 4x200 meter relay.
In the women's competition,
Jordyn McDonald did the most damage, winning both the 60 meters (8.15) and 200 meters (27.24), defeating a five-time All-American Callista DeCramer in the process in both events.
Rose Loos-Austin added a first-place finish in the 400 meters (1:08.55), while Beloit's women also won the 4x200 meter relay.
The Buccaneers will be in action again on Saturday when they'll travel to Whitewater, Wis. to take part in the UW-Whitewater Open, which will begin at 11 a.m.
