MONMOUTH, Ill. - Monmouth defeated Beloit's women's basketball team 84-58 Saturday afternoon, outscoring the Buccaneers 53-32 after halftime. The Fighting Scots scored 13 second chance points, while outscoring the Buccaneers in the paint by a 50-40 margin.
Beloit shot 37 percent (22-59) from the field. They were led by
T'Aira Boyance's 11 points and four steals.
Hannah Welte,
Addyson Ciochon, and
Marlee Young each finished with eight points, while
Hadja Bayo scored eight points in just 10 minutes off the bench.
Monmouth shot lights out in the game, converting 53 percent (31-59) of their shots, including 31 percent (5-16) of their 3-pointers. Lily Harlan led all scorers with 25 points for the Fighting Scots, to go along with eight rebounds and three steals. Tarae Warner and Zoie Wall added 16 and 10 points, respectively, while Wall added a game-high eight assists.
The Buccaneers will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll travel to Lake Forest College. That game will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill.
