BELOIT, Wis. - Last night the Beloit Women's soccer team faced off against the Lawrence University Vikings in Appleton, Wis. for another MWC competition.
The Buccaneers (2-6-2, 1-0-1) went into the game looking to get back in the W column after a tie against Monmouth over the weekend. The Vikings (3-4-2, 2-0-0) looked to move to 3-0 on the early conference season. While both teams had chances, LU fired more shots, 14(4) to 3(1).
Abbey Scott (Oswego, Ill.) had a chance with just under 5 minutes remaining in the 1st half. She slipped by the Viking defender after a clear out from a corner kick. As she closed in on goal, she was never able to fire off a solid shot before the LU goalie smothered the ball. The Buccaneers recorded no other shots on goal in the game.
Briana Arteaga (Covina, Calif.) played all 90 minutes in goal, recording 4 saves.
The Buccaneers return home on Saturday, October 7th against Ripon. Kick off is at 11 am.
