ROCKFORD, Ill. - Last night the Beloit College Men's Basketball team took the short drive to Rockford for The Battle of the Rock River: The basketball edition. With Beloit up 1-0 this year, thanks to the football teams week 1 win over the Regents, this game lived up to the hype. Both teams came into the game 2-0, looking to stay undefeated. Rockford came out on top 74-71.
The first half was incredibly close, with Beloit taking it's largest lead (9) with 1:10 left in the half. They took a 37-30 lead into the locker room. The second half of action proved to be as close as the 1st. However, the Regents outscored the Buccaneers by 10.
Beloit was led by
Dae'Quan Davis (Chicago, Ill.)off the bench. Davis scored 16 and grabbed 6 boards in only 18 minutes of action.
Semaj Roy (Chicago, Ill.) and
Azeez Ganiyu (Beloit, Wis.) also scored double-digits for the Bucs. Roy tallied 15 points and 5 rebounds while Ganiyu had 13 points along with 5 boards.
The Buccaneers return to Flood Arena for the first time this season on Saturday when they host Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) at 2 pm.
