Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Buccaneers' Win Streak Pushed to Six in Narrow Win Over Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - This afternoon, the Beloit College Men's basketball team needed all 40 minutes to push their win streak two six and their season win total to nine. With under a minute to go in a game that saw six lead changes and eight ties, the Buccaneers pushed the lead to three twice but couldn't pull any further ahead. The Dominican University Stars gave them everything they had but Beloit held on, 68-67.

Beloit (9-2, 4-0 MWC) used their size to hold on for the narrow victory over Dominican (3-8, 1-4 NACC). The Buccaneers' grabbed 18 more rebounds (45-27) and scored 12 more paint points (32-20) to negate some of the hot shooting that Dominican had. DU shot better in all three categories, 38.2% (21-55) from the field, 35% (7-20) from three and 85.7% (18-21) from the free throw line. BC shot 37.7% (23-61), 21.4% (3-14) and 76% (19-25).

With the game on the line in the final minute, Anthony Carter (Greenfield, Wis.) hit a clutch three to give the lead back to the Buccaneers for the final time. Carter went on to score five of Beloit's final seven points. He finished the game with 11 points, four rebounds and four steals in 18 minutes. Ryan Nixon (Waukesha, Wis.) hit two free throws to put the game away for the Bucs with 11 seconds left. Nixon finished with a 18 points on 5-9 shooting. Also in double figures for the Buccaneers were Azeez Ganiyu (Beloit, Wis.) and Jabari Scuefield (Hazel Crest, Ill.). Ganiyu recorded yet another double-double with 10 points and ten rebounds. Scuefield added ten points of his own.

The Buccaneers return to Flood Arena once more in 2023. They host Eureka College on December 30th, at 5 pm.
