BELOIT, Wis. - Yesterday the Beloit College Men's Basketball team had the chance to improve on their already historic season when they traveled to Monmouth, Ill. for a MWC match up with the Fighting Scots of Monmouth College. The Buccaneers moved to 5-2, 2-0 with the 63-56 win over the Fighting Scots (3-4, 1-1).
The Buccaneers dominated in the paint, outscoring MC 36-22. They also saw twice as many bench points than the Fighting Scots (26-13). Monmouth did shoot better from down town, shooting 35.7% compared to just 26.3% from Beloit.
The Bucs were led by
Ryan Nixon and
Azeez Ganiyu. Nixon led the way with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists and 2 steals. Ganiyu recorded another double-double this season, scoring 11 points and securing a game-high 13 boards. He also added three assists and 3 blocks.
The Buccaneers return home for just the 2nd time this season on Wednesday to host the Red Hawks of Ripon College. Tip off at Flood Arena is set for 5:30 pm.
