BELOIT, Wis.- Yesterday afternoon the Beloit College Women's basketball team continued MWC play on the road against the Monmouth College Fighting Scots. Both teams were searching for their 1st conference win and 2nd win overall. The Buccaneers (2-6, 1-1) edged out the Fighting Scots (1-7, 0-2) by the final score of 54-42.
The Buccaneers overpowered the Fighting Scots in every major category besides bench points. Neither team shoot the ball particularly well, the Bucs shot 32.2% from the field while Monmouth shot just 21.2%.
Two Bucs scored in double-digits and a third was one point shy of a double-double.
Hannah Welte (Clinton, Wis.) tallied 15 points, 7 boards and 3 steals in 30 minutes of action, before fouling out.
Elizabeth Kalk (Clinton, Wis.) scored 10 points, grabbed 7 boards and recorded 2 assists and 2 steals.
Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) was one point shy of a double-double. She secured a game high 11 boards to go along with 9 points and 2 blocks.
The Buccaneers return home for just the second time this season on Wednesday, December 6th to host the Red Hawks of Ripon College. Tip off will be around 7:30 pm, following the conclusion of the Men's game.
