MOUNT VERNON, Iowa. - Following a strong first half by the Buccaneers, the Rams outscored them 32-20 to run away with a 62-48 victory this afternoon. Cornell shot 43% (22-51) from the floor and 84.6% (11-13) from the free throw line while Beloit only shot 33.3% (17-51) and 47.6% (10-21).
Cornell College (4-5, 3-1 MWC) completely shut down the Buccaneers (2-8, 1-3 MWC) in the 3rd quarter, using a 17-8 quarter to close the door on the Bucs after they pulled within two (28-30) heading into the break.
Hannah Welte (Clinton, Wis.) led the way for Beloit, scoring 5 of her team high 17 points in the 2nd quarter. Welte also grabbed seven rebounds.
Hailey Johnson (South Milwaukee, Wis.) had another productive game off the bench for Beloit, scoring nine points in just 13 minutes of action.
Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) secured a team-high eight rebounds.
The Buccaneers will take some time to regroup before hosting Rockford University next Saturday, December 16th. Tip off at Flood Arena is set for 1 p.m.
