GALESBURG, Ill. - For the second time in as many games this week, Beloit's men's basketball team earned a hard-fought victory. In a game that featured two ties and five lead changes, Beloit shot 48 percent (30-62) from the field, including a scintillating 63 percent (17-27) after halftime.
Beloit (7-16, 3-11 MWC) scored 38 points in the paint on the day, while their bench outscored Knox's reserves by a 19-8 margin. The Buccaneers were led by
Jabari Scuefield, who was the team's leading scorer for the second straight game, posting 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, to go along with six rebounds.
Clayton Jenny also scored 15 points, making 3-of-6 shots from 3-point range, while adding five boards.
Ryan Nixon added 13 points, while
Azeez Ganiyu registered 10 points and seven rebounds.
Knox (6-17, 4-10 MWC) converted just 39 percent (23-59) of their shots from the field, including 39 percent (7-18) of their 3-pointers. They were led by Jordan Raynar's 14 points, while Sean Gallery added 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Matt Garife also chipped in with 13 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
The Buccaneers will look for their third win in a row on Tuesday when they'll travel to Grinnell College. That game will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Grinnell, Iowa.
