GRINNELL, Iowa - Beloit's men's basketball team took a two-point lead into halftime of Tuesday's game, but were outscored 50-33 in the second half, en route to a 100-85 loss at Grinnell College. The Pioneers forced 35 Beloit turnovers, which they turned into 36 points on the other end.
Beloit (7-17, 3-12 MWC) shot 48 percent (29-61) from the field, including 36 percent (5-14) from 3-point range, but converted just 57 percent (22-39) of their free throws. They out-rebounded the Pioneers 57-44 on the night, while also scoring 48 points in the paint.
Azeez Ganiyu led all scorers with 21 points and 15 rebounds, making all nine of his shots from the field.
Ryan Nixon added 19 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while
Michael Myles scored eight points.Â
Grinnell (8-15, 4-11 MWC) shot 34 percent (28-83) from the field and 28 perent (18-64) from 3-point range, while converting 87 percent (26-30) of their free throws. They were led by Aiden Gilbert's 17 points, while Mitch Priest and Dean Mazlish each scored 16. Adam Phillips and David Bluder added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Beloit will close their 2022-23 season on Saturday when they'll host Cornell College. That game will begin at 3 p.m. at Flood Arena in Beloit, Wis.
