MONMOUTH, Ill. - Beloit's men's and women's track & field teams competed at Saturday's Roger Haynes Invitational, which was hosted by Monmouth College. The meet, which also consisted of Illinois College, Monmouth, Mount Mercy, and William Woods College was unscored.
Beloit's day was highlighted by the performance of senior
Jordyn McDonald, who won both the 60 and 200 meters with times of 7.94 and 26.70, respectively, which are the top times in the Midwest Conference this season in those respective events. McDonald also ran a leg on Beloit's winning 4x400 relay team, as she teamed up with
Alayna Furch,
Montana McMahon, and
Rose Loos-Austin to run a time of 4:24.99, which was nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place time. McDonald also teamed up with Furch, McMahon, and
Candis Damste to finish second in the 4x200 relay competition with a time of 1:49.85, which was less than one second shy of the winning time. Furch also added a first-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.91, while Simone De Montigny finished second in the 3K with a time of 12:00.76.
Annina Jormanainen also had a second-place finish, doing the honors in the 5K with a time of 22:53.26.
In the men's competition,
Henry Schoon gave Beloit their highest individual finish with a second-place time in the 5K (19:42.32).
Ajani Joseph added a third-place finish in the 60 meters with a time of 7.21, which was 0.13 seconds shy of the first-place time, while also placing fourth in the 200 meters (23.21).
Emiliano Reyes added a pair of third place finishes in the shot put (43-01.75) and weight throw (48-00.00). In the relay competition, Beloit finished second in the 4x200, which saw Joseph team up with
Alexandre Atou,
Ahmasi Martin, and
Brandon Joly to run a time of 1:32.24, which was less than one second shy of the top time. The Buccaneers also finished second in the 4x400 relay, which saw the same quartet finish second with a time of 3:35.62.
Beloit will now have one final tuneup before the annual MWC Indoor Championships, as they'll travel to the University of Chicago on Saturday. That meet will begin at 11 a.m. in Chicago, Ill.
