GALESBURG, Ill. - Beloit's women's basketball team lost to conference-leading Knox College Saturday afternoon, as the Prairie Fire remained undefeated in Midwest Conference play (14-0) by defeating the Buccaneers by a score of 71-57. Knox never trailed in the contest, as their bench outscored Beloit's reserves 57-13. The Prairie Fire also scored 34 points in the paint and 25 points off turnovers.
Beloit shot 30 percent (17-56) from the field on the day, including 33 percent (6-18) from 3-point range.
Addyson Ciochon led the Buccaneers (7-16, 3-11 MWC) with 14 points and five rebounds, while
Elizabeth Kalk posted 13 points and six boards while playing all 40 minutes.
T'Aira Boyance added eight points and two steals, giving her 79 for the season, which leads the MWC and moves her into third place in program history for a single season.
Knox (19-4, 14-0 MWC) saw 12 different players score in the game, led by Kylee Callahan's 12 points. Sophie Elstone added eight points, while Sarina Dacio, Loraya Rocha, and Kristin Herndon each scored seven. The Prairie Fire shot 39 percent (25-64) from the field, including 25 percent (4-16) from 3-point range.
Beloit will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll travel to Grinnell College. That game will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Grinnell, Iowa.
