GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell shot 56 percent (19-33) after halftime Tuesday night, helping them defeat Beloit's women's basketball team by a score of 80-68. In a game that featured two ties and seven lead changes, Grinnell erased a four-point halftime deficit.
The Buccaneers (7-17, 3-12 MWC) shot 38 percent (23-60) in the game, including 26 percent (5-19) from 3-point range. They also outscored Grinnell 16-7 on second-chance points, thanks in large part to 16 offensive rebounds by the Buccaneers, who held a 46-32 rebounding advantage in the contest.
Elizabeth Kalk scored a team-high 20 points for Beloit, putting her over 700 points for her career in just two seasons.
Hannah Welte added 19 points and six rebounds, while
Addyson Ciochon recorded a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, to go along with four assists.
Megan Thompson also chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
Grinnell (9-13, 6-9 MWC) was led by Erin Lillis' 24 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Sara Booher added 13 points and eight boards, while Nikki Ware scored 12 points.
Beloit will close their 2022-23 season on Saturday against Cornell College. That game will begin at 1 p.m. at Flood Arena in Beloit, Wis., and will also serve as Senior Day, honoring the Buccaneers' lone senior,
T'Aira Boyance.
