BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's men's lacrosse team opened their 2023 season Saturday afternoon with a 14-1 loss to Lake Forest College. The Foresters also held a 52-14 shot advantage.
Lake Forest (1-0) started the scoring nearly four minutes into the contest when Brendan Herbert found the back of the net, before adding a second goal just a couple minutes later. Mario Florio and Trip Gaston each scored a goal in the opening quarter as well, giving LFC a 4-0 lead entering the second period. They would add three more goals in that frame, including two by Florio, giving them a 7-0 halftime advantage.
The Foresters added four more goals in the third, including two more from Florio, before Beloit got on the board, with
Liam Walker doing the honors on an assist from
Jordan Rice. Lake Forest scored three more times to cap the scoring in the fourth, including Florio's sixth and seventh goals of the game.
Andrew Widlar saved four shots for the Foresters, while playing all 60 minutes in goal. Beloit recorded 19 saves combined between
Eric Seo and
Cole Conway. Seo finished with 14 saves in 45 minutes of action.
Beloit will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to Northland College. That game will begin at Noon in Ashland, Wis.
