JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Beloit's men's and women's track & field teams each finished seventh out of nine teams at the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships over the weekend. The Buccaneers took first place in two events during the meet, including one relay, giving them five conference champions.
The Beloit women scored 50 team points, which was just seven shy of the sixth-place total. They were led by
Jordyn McDonald, who won the conference championship in the 60 meters with a winning time of 7.97. McDonald also placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.72, which was 0.19 seconds shy of the winning time, while earning a second conference championship in the 4x200 meters, teaming up with
Alayna Furch,
T'Aira Boyance, and
Candis Damste to run a first-place time of 1:47.30. McDonald and Damste alsl teamed up with
Montana McMahon and
Rose Loos-Austin to finish third in the 4x400 relay with a time o 4:15.30. Furch added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters (1:02.66).
Beloit's men's team finished the meet with 41 team points. Their performance was highlighted by a new school record in the weight throw, which saw
Emiliano Reyes finish fourth with a distance of 16.21m. The team's highest finish came in the 60 hurdles, where Nathaniel Otis finished with a finals time of 9.00, which was 0.16 seconds shy of first place. Beloit added a third-place finish in both the 4x200 and 4x400 relays. In the 4x200,

Ahmasi Martin,
Alexandre Atou, and
Brandon Joly teamed up to run a time of 1:33.36. Atou, Martin, Joly, and Otis then ran a time of 3:29.52 in the 4x400. Joly also earned the MWC's Elite 20 Award, given annually to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average, participating in his or her respective sport's culminating championship or tournament event.Â
