BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's men's basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 78-72 non-conference win against Martin Luther College. Both teams shot 40 percent from the field, with the difference in the game coming at the free throw line where Beloit converted 74 percent (17-for-23) from the charity stripe and Martin Luther made just 52 percent (12-for-23) of their foul shots.
Beloit (6-16) scored 19 fast break points, while the Buccaneers' bench outscored Martin Luther 28-16. Beloit also outscored the Knights 44-32 in the paint.Â
The Buccaneers were led by
Jabari Scuefield's season-high 15 points, while
Clayton Jenny recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, and four asssts, in addition to making all six of his free throw attempts.
Azeez Ganiyu added 11 points, while
Michael Myles scored 10 in 17 minutes off the bench.
Martin Luther (2-19) was led by Micah Kieselhorst's 14 points and six rebounds, while Seth Veers and Thomas Balge each scored 13 points. Ezra Blumer also chipped in with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Beloit will jump back into conference play on Saturday when they'll travel to Knox College. That game will begin at 3 p.m. in Galesburg, Ill.
