BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's women's lacrosse team fell to Saint Benedict by a score of 14-4 Monday afternoon. Saint Benedict also held a shot advantage of 41-14.
The opening quarter was very tightly contested, with Saint Benedict getting on the board first just one and a half minutes into the contest. Beloit tied things up just a minute later on a
Paige Airaudi goal, before the two teams traded goals again, with Airaudi scoring for the second time in the game. Shauna Miller then gave Saint Benedict a 3-2 lead with a goal late in the first, which was followed by five goals in the second quarter, giving the Bennies a six-goal lead at halftime.
Saint Benedict added another goal to start the third, before Beloit's
Cassidy Felix scored unassisted, midway through the period. Saint Benedict would put the game away in the fourth quarter, which saw them outscore the Buccaneers 5-1, with Beloit's lone goal coming from
Johanna McNair.
Airaudi led Beloit with two goals on the day. Saint Benedict had three players record a hat trick, led by Grace Fitzgibbons' five goals. Miller and Emma Schrepfer added three apiece.
Sofia Jeddeloh recorded 23 saves for Beloit while playing all 60 minutes at goal keeper, while Saint Benedict's Chloe Lewis made six saves.
Beloit will be in action again on Saturday when they'll travel to Concordia (Wis.). That game will begin at 3 p.m. in Mequon, Wis.
