ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Beloit took part in The Meet of Champions over the weekend, hosted by Augustana (Ill.) College. The Buccaneers' women finished 14th out of 22 teams with 26 team points, while the Bucs' men placed 18th out of 25 squads with 13 team points.
Beloit's highest individual finish of the day came in the women's 400 meters where
T'Aira Boyance finished third with a time of 58.94, which was just 0.62 seconds shy of the winning time. Boyance also ran a leg on Beloit's winning 4x400 relay team, along with
Candis Damste,
Alayna Furch, and
Jordyn McDonald, running a time of 4:05.33.Â
Hannah Welte added a seventh-place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:09.40), while Liz Kalk placed fifth in the high jump (5-01.75).
In the men's competition, Caden Anderson recorded the team's highest finish, placing third in the javelin with a distance of 145-00, which was seven inches shy of second-place. That is also the fourth-best mark in the event in the Midwest Conference this season.
Nate Otis added an eighth-place finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 58.17.
The Buccaneers will be in action again next weekend when they'll compete at the Green Knight Invitational, hosted by St. Norbert College. That meet will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. in De Pere, Wis.
