Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

McNair's School Records Highlight Beloit's Win Over Illinois Tech

BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's women's lacrosse team defeated Illinois Tech 16-9 Saturday afternoon, behind nine goals and 14 total points from sophomore Johanna McNair, both of which are new single season school records. She also recorded five assists, which is tied for second in program history for a single game, just two shy of a third school record.

The Buccaneers (3-6, 1-3 NACC) started the scoring just one minute into the contest on a Paige Airaudi goal, which was assisted by McNair. Illinois Tech (2-11, 0-5 NACC) then tied the game on a Kelly Hitchcock goal, but McNair was quick to answer with her first of nine goals. She would score the next two as well, before Illinois Tech cut the lead to two. Olivia Farbarik also scored for Beloit in the final minutes of the quarter. The second period was all McNair, as she scored each of the team's three goals that quarter to help Beloit to an 8-5 halftime lead.

Airaudi again opened the second half with a goal, but Illinois Tech answered with a goal of their own less than one minute later. McNair then scored 17 seconds after that, but Illinois Tech answered again to make the score 10-7, before Airaudi ended the quarter like she started it, completing the hat trick with her third goal. Cassidy Felix then got into the scoring action to start the fourth quarter, which was followed by McNair and Airaudi each scoring once more. That duo would add another goal apiece later in the quarter to cap the scoring and send the Buccaneers' faithful home happy.

Another key component to Beloit's victory was the play of Goal Keeper Sofia Jeddeloh, who made 15 saves, many of them at crucial times in the game, while playing all 60 minutes. Illinois Tech's Mercy Godfrey also played the entire game in the net, recording 12 saves.

Beloit will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll travel to Marian University. That game will begin at 5 p.m. in Fond du Lac, Wis.
