PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - UW-Platteville defeated Beloit's softball team in both games of their doubleheader on Wednesday, winning the first game 22-1, before completing the sweep with a 13-0 win in the second game.
UW-Platteville (22-11) jumped on the board early with three runs in the bottom of the first, which was followed by seven runs in the second before Beloit got on the board with a
Siddalee Meyers RBI single in the top of the third. Platteville then scored eight more runs in the bottom of that frame, before adding four more in the fourth to cap the scoring.
Beloit (8-24) finished game one with seven hits, all singles.
Angela Donath and
Isabel Johnson led the team with two hits apiece.
In the day's second game, Platteville broke a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the second, before adding four runs in the third and putting the game away with a nine-spot in the fourth.
Beloit's lone hit in the contest came off the bat of
Maddie Moser.
The Buccaneers will get back to conference play this weekend when they'll travel to Lake Forest College on Saturday. That doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill.
