BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College men's lacrosse team captured its first conference win of the 2023 campaign Wednesday night, defeating Concordia-Chicago by a score of 7-2, in a game in which they never trailed. The Buccaneers also held a shot advantage of 43-20, including a 22-9 margin after halftime.
The first half was the
Liam Walker show for the Bucs, as the freshman scored three goals for a hat trick before the teams even went to the locker room for intermission. His first goal broke a scoreless tie with nine and a half minutes remaining in the opening quarter, before Concordia (0-9, 0-2 NACC) tied things up one and a half minutes later on a Triston Ploch goal. Walker added his second score just before the end of the quarter, while his third goal came with three minutes left in the second quarter, giving Beloit a 3-1 halftime lead.
The Buccaneers (2-6, 1-1 NACC) continued to extend their lead in the second half, as
Will Palmer got into the action with hsi first goal of the game with just under nine minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Brenon Reed would also score a goal for the Bucs in that period, before Palmer added two more goals in the fourth to complete a hat trick.
In addition to his three goals, Palmer also added a game-high two assists.
Eric Seo played all 60 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Bucs, making 11 saves. His counterpart Peter Borkowski also played the entire game between the pipes for Concordia, recording 15 saves.
Beloit will try to continue their momentum on April 12 when they'll travel to Aurora University. That game will begin at 5 p.m. in Aurora, Ill.
