GRINNELL, Iowa - After leading Beloit's baseball team to a school record 31 wins this season, and their third Midwest Conference championship in school history, Buccaneers' head coach
Dave DeGeorge has been rewarded with the MWC Coach of the Year Award. This marks the fifth time DeGeorge has received this honor, which is the fifth-most of any coach in conference history.
The all-time winningest coach in MWC history, DeGeorge has led the Bucs to the NCAA Division-III Tournament for the third time in program history, which will take place this weekend. Beloit's 31 wins this season are tied for fourth-most in conference history, and is just three wins shy of the conference record, with at least two games left to play.
In his 33rd season at the helm, DeGeorge has put together one of the best teams in program history this year. In addition to becoming the first coach in MWC history to win 20 conference games in a season, breaking the previous conference record of 19, his team has broken single season school records for runs scored, hits, doubles, home runs, extra base hits, total bases, RBI, and fielding percentage.
Despite the Buccaneers' successful season, they are not done yet. Beloit will face #11 Denison University in their first NCAA Tournament game in seven years on Friday. That game will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern Time in Granville, Ohio, and can be seen live atÂ
Denison University on the North Coast Network. The Bucs will play again on Saturday in the double elimination tournament, with the Regional Championship Game taking place on Sunday.
