BELOIT, Wis. - On Saturday afternoon the Beloit College Men's Soccer team squared off with the Marian University Sabres in Fond Du Lac, Wis. In an evenly matched game, Marian edged Beloit on shots, 12 (4) to 10 (5). Despite the Buccaneers having more shots on goal, the Sabres were able to capitalize on their shots on goal.
Still in search of their first win of the season, the Bucs found themselves in a hole early. Marian took a quick 1-0 lead, scoring in the 2nd minute of the game. In the 26th minute,
Aiden Everett (Odessa, TX) scored the equalizer when he fired one past the goalie from the top left of the box. Assisting on his goal was
Juan Calzada. MU answered in the 69th minute, scoring on a penalty kick. Again, the Bucs answered, this time it was
Tony Vogt (Elkhorn, Wis.) unassisted from the top of the box to the near post. The Bucs' defense couldn't hold the Sabres and gave up the winning goal in the 78th minute.
The Buccaneers return home tomorrow, September 12th. Their match agaisnt UW-Whitewater will kick off at 4pm.
