BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit Women's soccer team hosted the Cardinals of Saint Mary's this afternoon. The Bucs looked to carry the momentum from Sunday over to today and improve to 2-1 on the early season. The Cardinals had other plans however, winning the defensive battle, 1-0. 
SMU scored in the 8th minute on a cross that found an unmarked attacker who connected with the back of the net. BC only managed to get one shot off in the first half. SMU out shot the Bucs 12-5 and 7-1 on goal. 
Briana Arteaga (Covina, Calif.) saved two shots and gave up the goal while 
Maya Betzler (College Place, Wash.)stopped 4 shots. Both keepers played a half. 
Beloit returns to action tomorrow on the road in Kenosha, Wis. Their match with the Firebirds of Carthage kicks off at 7 pm.
