GRINNELL, IA. - The Beloit College Men's basketball team headed to Grinnell, Iowa this evening for a Midwest Conference match up with the Pioneers of Grinnell College. Both teams were coming off upset MWC losses on Saturday and looked to rebound with a win. Grinnell came out on top, securing the 108-93 victory.
Beloit College (10-5, 4-3 MWC) trailed by just one heading into the break, but fell behind in the second half. Grinnell College (11-3, 6-1 MWC) outscored the Buccaneers 60-46 over the second 20 minutes. The fast-paced Pioneers drained 34% (18-53) of their three pointers, while the Buccaneers only made four. Two of which came from
Anthony Carter (Greenfield, Wis.) off the bench. The Buccaneers' bench contributed 40 points with Carter and
Brian Rusch (Edgerton, Wis.) getting 20-plus minutes of action. Beloit scored 56 points in the paint, nearly double what Grinnell did.
Clayton Jenny (Edgerton, Wis.) led the Buccaneers in scoring with 18 points. He also secured five rebounds and dished out three assists.
Azeez Ganiyu (Beloit, Wis.) notched his eight double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Ganiyu added a game-high three blocks. Carter posted a 14-point performance, shooting 5-9 from the field and 2-6 from behind the arc.
Jabari Scuefield (Hazel Crest, Ill.) filled the stat sheet with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Buccaneers face Knox College on Saturday, January 13th. Tip off in Galesburg, Ill. is set for 1pm.
