BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College Men's basketball team hosted the Midwest Conference leading Illinois College Blue Boys (16-2, 8-1 MWC) this afternoon. The Buccaneers' rallied from down twelve with under seven minutes left but ultimately fell by three, 72-69.
The Buccaneers' (11-7, 5-5 MWC) were led by
Azeez Ganiyu (Beloit, Wis.) and his game-high 25 points, team-high eight rebounds and four assists. Ganiyu threw down two momentum changing dunks. The first coming with 3:35 left in the first that tied the game at 27. He also hit a few clutch threes, going 4-5 from downtown. Off the bench again,
Anthony Carter (Greenfield, Wis.) was the only other Buc in double-figures, scoring 10.
Clayton Jenny (Edgerton, Wis.) secured seven rebounds and three steals.
Beloit shot over 40% from the field for the second straight game, shooting 42.4% (25-59). They also shot nearly 50% from deep, connecting on 47.8% (11-23) of their attempts. Beloit edged IC out in rebounds, 33-31 leading to two more second chance points (13-11).
Beloit has a quick turn around and will regroup before hosting Lawrence University on Tuesday, January 23rd. Tip at Flood Arena is set for 5:30pm.
