WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Beloit College Track and Field teams took a short drive over to UW-Whitewater toady to compete in the Karl Schlender Invitational. Facing their toughest competition of the season, the Buccaneers' placed 3rd (men) and 4th (women) respectively.
Men:
The Men's 4x400m relay team consisting of
Alexandre Atou (Abomey Calavi, Benin),
Izzy Zewdie (Las Vegas, Nev.), Diontia Charles, and
Daniel DeGeorge (Bettendorf, Iowa) placed 1st with a time of 3:14.09. The 4x200m relay team consisting of Atou, Zewdie, Charles and DeGeorge placed second, crossing the line at 1:34.79. Atou also placed third in the 200m, toeing the line in 23.30. In the field, Charles placed third in the high jump, clearing 1.75m.
Women:
Individually,
Candis Damste (Accra, Ghana) earned the Bucs' only first place finish, running a 26.71 in the 200m. Coming in second with a time of 12:22.40 in the 3000m was
Simone de Montigny (Neenah, Wis.). The 4x400m relay team (Damste,
Alayna Furch (Saint Charles, Mo.),
Marianna Carus (Ottawa, Ill.) and
Sophia Miller (Salem, Ore.)) beat out second place Carroll by 5 seconds, running a 4:21.39.
Beloit heads out to Dubuque, Iowa next Saturday for the Spartan Shootout hosted by the University of Dubuque.
