BELOIT, Wis. - Looking to extend their winning streak to four, the Buccaneers welcomed the Vikings of Lawrence University to Flood Arena this evening. The game saw eleven lead changes and three ties with the largest lead being six.
The Buccaneers (7-12, 5-6 MWC) trailed after the first quarter (10-7) and at the half, 22-16, before outscoring the Vikings (12-7, 6-4 MWC) over the final two quarters. Despite the second half push, the Bucs fell by the final score of 52-51.
Each team put out nearly identical numbers in every major category with Beloit shooting better from the field and downtown. Lawrence ultimately won the game at the free throw line, shooting 80% (16-20) compared to just 55% (6-11) from Beloit.
Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) led the Bucs with a career-high 16 points. McNair also hauled in four boards. She was the only Buccaneer to reach double-figures.
Elizabeth Kalk (Clinton, Wis.) followed with nine points, including the game tying basket with 34 seconds left. Kalk added four rebounds and three assists. While tying a season low in scoring,
Hannah Welte (Clinton, Wis.) made her presence known elsewhere. She grabbed six rebounds, two steals and dished out three assists.
The Bucs get a much needed break before heading north to take on the league leaders, Ripon College on Wednesday, January 31st. Tip off in Ripon is set for 7:30pm.
