BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College Women's basketball team won their fourth game of the season and second Midwest Conference game this afternoon. The Buccaneers' defeated the Monmoth College Fighting Scots for the second time this season, 63-48.
The Buccaneers' (4-10, 2-4 MWC) outscored Monmouth (2-12, 0-5 MWC) in three out of four quarters, outscoring MC in the paint and off turnovers. Beloit scored 46 paint points, compared to just 28 from MC.
Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) kept Monmouth in check in the paint, blocking four shots. The Buccaneers' also scored 23 points off turnovers while Monmouth scored only 8, Beloit only turned the ball over 13 times.
Elizabeth Kalk (Clinton, Wis.) led the Bucs with a game-high 22 points on 50% (8-16) shooting from the field. Kalk was two rebounds shy of yet another double-double. She also led the team with six assists.
Hannah Welte (Clinton, Wis.) was a menace on defense, recording a season-high six steals to go along with an 11 point, 10 rebound double-double.
Marlee Young (Beloit, Wis.) rounded out the double figure scoring with 10 points on 5-9 shooting from the field.
The Buccaneers' head to Grinnell, Iowa on Wednesday for a match up with Grinnell College. Tip off for the game is set for 7:30pm, following the men's game.
