GRINNELL, Iowa - The Beloit College Volleyball team traveled to Grinnell Iowa this evening for the 2024 Midwest Conference (MWC) opener against the Pioneers of Grinnell College. The Buccaneers (1-12, 0-1 MWC) fell in three sets but after scoring just 11 points in the first set, they fought in sets two and three and lost 21-25, 20-25. The Pioneers (13-5, 1-0 MWC) posted a .311 hitting percentage while the Bucs just .090.
The Bucs played Grinnell the closest in the third set, taking their first lead of the match (aside from 1-0), 8-7 following a kill from
Kyra Suiter-Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.). After that, they went on to tie the set four more times.
Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, AZ) had another career night for the Buccaneers, recording a career-high nineteen assists, as a team, the Bucs recorded 21 total assists. Along with her assists, Tufte added four kills. Leading Beloit in kills was
Camille Ledoux (Saint-Liboire, Quebec, Canada) with eight. She also added one block and one assist. Libero
Kaci Watanabe (Wahiawa, Hawaii) held down the back row with 14 digs.
The Buccaneers step back out of conference on Sunday, October 6th when they head to Notre Dame, Ind. to play Saint Mary's College. The match is set to start at 1 pm.
