Monmouth, Ill. - The Beloit College football team traveled to Monmouth, Illinois for a Midwest Conference clash with the Fighting Scots of Monmouth College this afternoon. The Buccaneers (1-6, 1-5 MWC) fell to the Fighting Scots (6-1, 6-0) by a final score of 3-55.
Rafael Cervantes Jr. (Dallas, TX) provided the only Buccaneer points when he nailed a 34-yard field goal on the Bucs first drive of the game. The Bucs earned stellar field possession on that drive after
Gavin Thorpe (Homestead, FL) recovered a Monmouth fumble at the MC 36-yard line.
The Buccaneer offense struggled against one of the league's best defenses. Five of Beloit's 15 drives went for just three plays and the Buccaneers were forced to punt ten times.
Jared Torres (Mesquite, TX) gave the Buccaneers some life in their drive that ended the first quarter and rolled into the second. On the second play of the drive, He completed a pass to
Tommy Dixson (Glenn Heights, TX) for 18-yards and the longest pass play of the game for the Bucs.
The Buccaneers return to Strong Stadium next weekend to host the Lake Forest College Foresters. The Foresters sit atop the MWC standings. Kick off on November 2nd will be at 1 pm. The Buccaneers will celebrate the 2024 Beloit Football Seniors prior to the game.
