Men's Soccer Shut Out By Vikings

BELOIT, Wis. - This afternoon the Beloit College Men's soccer team hosted the Vikings of Lawrence University in a Midwest Conference clash. Coming off a 2-1 victory over Monmouth on Saturday, the Buccaneers (2-11-0, 1-2-0 MWC) were looking to win back to back games for the first time this season. The Vikings (2-6-4, 1-0-2 MWC) had other plans, scoring two goals in each half to win the match 4-0.

The Buccaneers had their chances, out shooting the Vikings 21(7) to 17(11) but came up empty on anything fired towards the goal. The Bucs came up unlucky on a few plays, specifically on the Vikings third goal. Buccaneer keeper David Staats (Meridian, ID) came out of the goal to make a play in the box. He went down for the ball and the LU forward also fell to the ground. Staats was given a yellow card and Lawrence was awarded a penalty kick. Beloit applied the pressure in the second half by registering six shots on goal and one shot go off the post.

The Buccaneers will regroup before heading up to Ripon, Wis. on Saturday for an afternoon match against the Red Hawks of Ripon College. Kick off from Hopp Stadium is set for 11 am.
