BELOIT, Wis. - It was a tale of two halves for the Beloit College Men's Basketball team this evening. A strong first half gave them a seven point lead over the Marian Univeristy Sabres, but just 21 points in the second half allowed Marian to secure the 63-59 win.
The Buccaneers (1-1, 0-0 MWC) were lead by
Dae'Quan Davis (Chicago, Ill.),
Anthony Carter (Greenfield, Wis.) and
Semaj Roy (Chicago, Ill.). Off the bench, Davis recorded a double-double, scoring a game-high 18 points on 7-13 shooting and 4-5 from deep and grabbing 11 rebounds. Carter added 15 points, six assists and four boards. Roy tallied 13 points and seven rebounds.
Marian (4-0, 0-0 NACC) won the battle down low, scoring 38 of their 63 points in the paint. In the second half, MU capitalized on the sloppy play of the Bucs, adding 13 points.
The Buccaneers head on the road for the first time this season on Saturday. The Bucs will square off against the Red Devils of Eureka College. Tip off from Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena in Eureka, Ill. is set for 3 pm.
