BELOIT, Wis. - Despite a spirited second-half performance, the Beloit College Men's basketball team fell to Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) 67-54 in a non-conference match up at the Kern Center this evening. The loss evens Beloit's record at 2-2 (0-0 MWC) for the season and MSOE 2-2, 0-1 in the NACC.
The Buccaneers faced an uphill battle after a challenging first half that saw them trailing 33-21 at the break, but showed remarkable resilience in the second period, matching MSOE almost point for point with a 33-34 half.
Azeez Ganiyu (Beloit, Wis.) led the way for Beloit with a solid all-around performance, recording 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Anthony Carter (Greenfield, Wis.) added 10 points, though he faced tough shooting, going 3-13 from the field.
Clayton Jenny (Edgerton, Wis.) provided a spark from beyond the arc, connecting on all three of his three-point attempts for 9 points.
The Buccaneers showed flashes of excellence, particularly during a second-half run that cut MSOE's lead to just three points at 49-46 with under 10 minutes remaining. However, MSOE responded with timely baskets to maintain their advantage.
Beloit's defense created opportunities, forcing 10 turnovers and recording 7 steals, but struggled to convert these into transition points, managing just 2 fast-break points compared to MSOE's 11. The Buccaneers also faced shooting challenges, finishing at 32.7% from the field.
The Buccaneers will look to bounce back in their next contest as they continue their non-conference schedule against Rockford University. The Bucs host the Regents on Wednesday, November 27th at 7 pm.
