ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Beloit College Women's basketball team kicked off the 2024-25 season this evening on the road against the Rockford University Regents. The Buccaneers (0-1, 0-0 MWC) fell to the Regents (1-0, 0-0 NACC) by a final score of 48-64.
The new look Buccaneers saw major contributions from a few new faces.
Hailey Johnson (South Milwaukee, Wis.),
Aina Mallorqui (Valls, Spain) and
Kaitlin Davis (Platte City, Mo.) all picked up their first career starts. Off the bench, freshman
Julia Kennedy (South Milwaukee, WI) scored a team-high and career-high eight points. Also off the bench,
Angela Donath (Wausau, Wis.) scored seven. Davis,
Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) and
Hadja Bayo (Round Rock, Texas) led in rebounds with Davis grabbing eight and both McNair and Bayo corralling seven.
The Buccaneer bench outscore the Regent bench 25-13. Rockford outscored the Bucs 27-11 in the second quarter and despite Beloit outscoring them in the final two frames, they maintained their lead to cruise to the win.
The Buccaneers host Carroll University for their first home game of the season on Tuesday. Tip off against the Pioneers is set for 7 pm from Flood Arena.
