MONMOUTH, Ill.- The Beloit College Track and Field teams traveled to Monmouth, Ill. today to compete in the Roger Hayes Invite hosted by Monmouth College. The Buccaneers saw three first place finishes, four second place finishes, two third and five fourth place finishes.
Men:
For the third time this season, freshman
Josh Yearby (West Park, FL) has broken the school record in the 60m sprint. His time of 6.92 seconds earned him one of Beloit's three first place finishes. Yearby was also apart of the winning men's 4x200 relay. Yearby, along with
Daniel DeGeorge (Bettendorf, Iowa),
Nate Otis (Shoreview, Minn.) and
Alexandre Atou (Abomey Calavi, Benin) ran a 1:32.22, the third fastest time in the MWC this season. Otis saw success in the 60m hurdles, placing third with a time of 8.92. In the 200m, Atou placed 4th with a 23.73. For the distance runners,
Max Muszynski (Milwaukee, Wis.) placed fourth in the 3000m run, toeing the line in 11:27.05. In the field events,
Diontia Charles (Riverdale, Ill.) placed second in the men's high jump with a jump of 1.80m and
Kevon Mills (Key West, FL) earned 4th place in the long jump hitting the 6.23m mark.
Women:
Simone de Montigny (Neenah, Wis.) earned the lone first place finish on the women's side for the Bucs. Her time of 21:08.13 in the 5000m run places her in the top 20 of the MWC.
Niomee Casey (Broken Arrow, Okla) hauled in a second place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.73. To round out the sprints,
Alayna Furch (Saint Charles, Mo.) placed 4th in the 200m at 27.43 seconds.
Sophia Miller (Salem, Ore.),
Maddie Meason (Roscoe, Ill.),
Marianna Carus (Ottawa, Ill.), and
Carter Browne (Hornell, N.Y.) all placed for the distance runners. Miller placed third in the 800 at 2:35,45 with Carus following closely behind in fourth at 2:36.02. In the mile run, Meason took second with a time of 6:16.73. Taking second in the 3000, Browne ran a 12:42.82.
The Buccaneers run again on Saturday, February 17th at the Margaret Bradley Invite hosted by the University of Chicago.
