CLERMONT, FL.- The Beloit College Softball team earned their first win in the Sunshine state today when they beat Ohio Northern University 4-3 in their first game of the day. The Buccaneers (2-8, 0-0 MWC) then fell in the night cap, 4-9 to the University of Northwestern (MN).
Game 1
ONU led off the top of the first inning by plating one run. The Bucs' answered in the bottom of the 1st by scoring four runs.
Jocelyn Jordan (Beloit, Wis.) led off for Beloit by reaching on an error and advancing to second.
Paloma Reyes (Beloit, Wis.) came in to pinch run for Jordan.
Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK) walked and
Angela Donath (Wausau, Wis.) laid down a bunt single to load the bases.
Kaylee Witte (Poplar Grove, IL) singled to right center, scoring both Reyes and Murrah.
Siddalee Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.) grounded to the shortstop who opted to get Witte at second, allowing Donath to score and Meyers to reach safely at first.
Sydney Harbison (Beloit, Wis.) also reached on a fielder's choice that cut down Meyers at second. Harbison moved over to second when
Isabel Johnson (Austin, Texas) reached on an error by the third basemen.
Stella Lutes (Riverside, IL) kept the bats going with a single through the right side to load the bases.
Jessalyn Coppe (Niles, IL) walked that scored Harbison from third.
With both pitchers in command, no more runs crossed until the Polar Bears made a push in the top of the seventh. They plated two more runs before Witte induced an infield popup to end the game.

Samantha Friedrichsohn (Waukesha, WI) went 3.0 innings and Witte came in over the final 4.0 innings.
Game 2
In game two, the Bucs' looked to continue with the early production they saw in game one to jump ahead early. They managed to push one run across in the top of the first.
Briana Arteaga (Covina, Calif.) came in to score after getting on via a hit by pitch, stealing second and scoring on a Witte single to left center. UNW answered with five runs in the bottom of the first. Beloit got two back in the top of the fourth. Lutes led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a Harbison single through the left side.
Bo Everly (Waunakee, WI) came in to pinch run for Harbison.
Hannah Beran grounded out to the pitcher but advanced the runners 60 feet. Murrah singled to right field, scoring both Lutes and Everly. In the top of the seventh, the Bucs' looked to stage a comeback but only mustered up one run. Murrah walked, stole second and came around to score on a Witte double to left center.
The Buccaneers' conclude their time at the Spring Games tomorrow with two games at the Legends Way fields. Both games will be played on field four. Game one against Springfield College is set for 11:30 am and game two against Plymouth State is set for 1:45 pm.
