NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team took their talents on the road for the first time in the 2024 season when they headed to Naperville, Ill. for a Saturday afternoon game against the Cardinals of North Central College. The Buccaneers (2-3, 0-0 NACC) fell to the Cardinals (4-3) by the score of 5-11. The Cardinals out shot Beloit 28-15 and were -6 in the turnover column.
Beloit jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when
Cassidy Felix (Bellflower, Calif.) recorded her third goal of the season in the 13th minute. Over the next nine minutes, NCC rallied off three goals, taking a 3-1 lead into the second quarter. Under five minutes into the second,
Maggie Mudd (St. Charles, Mo.) single-handedly tied the game. Her first goal came in the 13th minute was assisted by
Maya DeGeorge (Grand Junction, Colo.) and her goal in the 12th minute was unassisted. Once again, the Cardinals scored in threes, doubling their lead with less than ten remaining in the first half. At the 6:54 mark, DeGeorge buried her first goal of the game off an assist from
Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.). North Central scored once more before half to take a 7-4 lead into the break. The only scoring in the third quarter came from the Cardinals who added two to their lead. They added another two in the fourth. With 11 seconds remaining, McNair found the back of the net, DeGeorge recorded her second assist of the game on the goal.
Sofia Jeddeloh (Verona, Wis.) played all 60 minutes in goal for Beloit, making 12 saves.
The Buccaneers return to the road next week with games in Minnesota on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th. Friday's game will be at Ausburg University, starting at 3 pm and Saturday's game at Hamline University is set to start at 1 pm.
