BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team is still in search of their first victory of the season following a narrow 11-12 loss to the Lumberjacks of Northland College this evening. The Buccaneers out shot the Lumberjacks 40-31 in the loss.
Beloit (0-2, 0-0 NACC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead following back-to-back goals from
Will Palmer (Downers Grove, Ill.).
Liam Walker (Elmhurst, Ill.) assisted on both of Palmer's goals. Over the final five and a half minutes of the first quarter, the Jacks (1-3) scored three straight to take a 3-2 into the second quarter. Continuing where they left off, the Jacks scored another three straight to extend their lead to four, 6-2. With just over four minutes on the clock, Palmer scored his fourth to stop the Bucs bleeding. Freshman
Ryder Story (Salem, Ore.) went on a tear, scoring three straight goals to close out the half and tie the game. His goals came at 3:48, 1:49 and 1:28.
In the second half, Northland secured the momentum early, posting another three goals in about a one and a half minute span. After a bit of back and fourth, Palmer's fourth goal pulled the Bucs within one, 11-10. They couldn't get any closer even after Palmer's fifth goal with under a minute and a half to go.
Eric Seo (Woodridge, Ill.) played the entire game in goal for the Bucs, saving nine shots.
