BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team got back in the win column this afternoon with a  victory over the Vikings of Augustana College. Despite being out shot 32-30, the Buccaneers defeated the Vikings 17-9. The Buccaneers (2-1, 0-0 NACC) got goals from Maya DeGeorge (Grand Junction, Colo.) (7), Maggie Mudd (St. Charles, Mo.) (5) and Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) (5). 

McNair opened the scoring for the Bucs in the 2nd minute of the first quarter. DeGeorge scored the next two, to give Beloit a 3-0 lead. With 2:49 left, Mudd buried her first goal. The Vikings (1-2) scored their first goal of the game with 2:29 to go. Mudd completed the hat-trick with 29 seconds left in the quarter to give the Bucs a 6-1 lead after the first 15 minutes. 

The Bucs only goals of the 2nd quarter came off the sticks of McNair and DeGeorge. The Vikings grabbed the momentum during the second and scored five to cut the lead to two, 8-6 heading into the break. 

In the third alone, DeGeorge recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals. McNair added two and Mudd completed the scoring for the Bucs in the third. After three quarters, Beloit led 14-7. 

The three goals in the fourth came 11:57 from Mudd, 11:24 from McNair and 10:52 from DeGeorge. The Vikings scored the final two goals, at 6:11 and the 23 second mark. 

Between the pipes the whole game, Sofia Jeddeloh recorded 18 saves. 

The Buccaneers host the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire at Strong Stadium on March 16th at 1 pm.
