Fond Du Lac, WI. - The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team moved to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in NACC play yesterday with a road victory over the Marian University Sabres (4-8, 1-1 NACC). The Buccaneers outscored the Sabres 10-5 over the first half of action to hold on to a 16-12 win. For the second straight game,
Maggie Mudd (St. Charles, Mo.) led Beloit with a six goal game.
Johanna McNair (Fishers, Ind.) followed with four goals,
Cassidy Felix (Bellflower, Calif.) with three,
Maya DeGeorge (Grand Junction, Colo.) with two and
Suzanne Healy (St. Charles, Ill.) with one.
After taking a 10-5 lead into half time, the second half proved to be much more even on the scoring front. Beloit continued their offensive dominance in the third by outscoring MU 4-2 but for the first time in the game, the shots in a quarter were tied. The Sabres grabbed the momentum in the fourth and put together a comeback. They out shot Beloit 10-4 and put together a four minute, 4-0 run to bring them within four with just over five minutes left. Felix netted Beloit's final goal at the 5:09 mark to essentially kill the comeback and secure the 16-12 win.
Beloit stays on the road for their next game. They head to Aurora, Ill. on Wednesday, April 17th to face off with the second place team in the NACC. Sitting in third, this will be a huge game. Action will start a 4 pm.
