WINONA, Minn. - The Beloit College Men's Soccer team traveled to Winona, Minnesota to open the 2024 season against the Cardinals of Saint Mary's University.
The Buccaneers (0-1, 0-0) were held to just four shots, two on goal, despite taking eight corner kicks. Tha Cardinals (1-0, 0-0) scored at the 31 minute mark, and tallied a total of 15 shots with seven being on goal. Beloit had a chance to tie it in the final 30 seconds but
Israel Zewdie's (Las Vegas, Nev.) shot was saved by the SMU keeper.
Goalkeepers
Ian Nelson (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and
David Staats (Meridian, ID) split the net duties, each playing a half. Nelson recorded one save while Staats recorded five.
The Buccaneers have a quick turn around before hosting Eureka on Sunday at home at Strong Soccer Complex. Kick off is set for 11 am.
