ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Beloit College Volleyball team opened the 2024 season this evening at Rockford University. The Buccaneers' fell three sets to one. After losing the first set 19-25, they took the second set in convincing fashion, 25-15. Unfortunately, they were unable to carry that momentum and dropped the third and fourth sets, 15-25 and 12-25.
The Buccaneers had a huge presence at the net defensively, recording three blocks while the Regents recorded none.
Kierra Rayne Hoover (Albuquerque, New Mexico) led the Bucs with two blocks while
Camille Ledoux (Saint-Liboire, Quebec, Canada) and
Siddalee Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.) each had one.
McKayla "Maka" Simao (Sparta, Wis.),
Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, AZ) and Ledoux tallied the most kills for Beloit, Simao had eight along with a team-high 16 digs and one ace. Tufte's named littered the box score in her first collegiate game. She had a team-high three services aces and added seven kills, ten assists and fifteen digs. Along side her block, Ledoux hammered down five kills.
The Buccaneers travel up to Milwaukee on Wednesday, September 4th for another non-conference match up, this time at Alverno College. First serve is set for 7 pm.
