BELOIT, Wis. - In just her second collegiate game,
Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, AZ) set a single-game record with ten service aces. Tufte and the Buccaneers defeated the Alverno Inferno 3-2 for their first win of the season. With the win, Beloit ties their win total from a season ago.
The Buccaneers (1-1, 0-0) jumped out to a quick two set lead after winning 25-21 and 25-10. The Inferno (0-1, 0-0) fought tough and took sets three and four (25-17, 25-12) before the Bucs snapped their attention back and took winner take all set five by a score of 15-8.
Aside from her ten aces, Tufte added a team-high 14 assists, 11 digs, nine kills and one block.
McKayla "Maka" Simao (Sparta, Wis.) led all Bucs with ten kills. She also added one block.
Siddalee Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.) and
Kaci Watanabe (Wahiawa, Hawaii) each recorded 11 digs while
Naomi Murphy (Dubuque, Iowa) added nine kills and a team-leading two blocks.
