WHEATON, Ill. - The Beloit College Volleyball team opened play at the Marilyn Scribner Invitational this evening when they faced off against the Cougars of Cocordia Chicago. The Buccaneers (1-2, 0-0) were defeated three sets to none by the Cougars (4-3, 0-0).
In each set, the Bucs scored more, scoring 12, 16 and 19 in each set.
Camille Ledoux (Saint-Liboire, Quebec, Canada),
McKayla "Maka" Simao (Sparta, Wis.), Kaci Watanabe (Wahiawa, Hawaii) and
Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, AZ), each led a statistical category. Ledoux recorded five kills and three aces. Simao followed Ledoux will four kills and tied the team lead with six digs. Wantanabe also had six digs and one ace. Tufte rounded out the leaders with ten assists and one ace.
The Buccaneers have a quick turn around before their second match of the Invitational tomorrow at 1:30 pm. They will face Rose-Hulman at 1:30 pm and Aurora at 4 pm to wrap up the tournament.
