Women's Soccer Unsuccessful Against Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - This afternoon the Beloit College Women's soccer team headed north to Stevens Point to face their second WIAC opponent of the season in the UW-Stevens Point Pointers.

The Buccaneers (1-5-1, 0-0-0) allowed an early Pointer (3-3-2, 0-0-0) goal in just the sixth minute and spent the rest of the game searching for a tie. Beloit struggled on offense, only firing off three shots, with Natalie Ortiz (Crystal Lake, Ill.) sending the lone shot towards the goal. For the Pointers, they had ample opportunities to increase their lead but Maya Betzler (College Place, Wash.) and the Buccaneer defense thwarted that from happening. Betzler corralled eleven saves, her third highest total this season.

The Buccaneers don't have much of a break next week before making the trek to Dubuque, Iowa to face the ever-tough University of Dubuque Spartans. Kick off on Tuesday, September 7th is set for 7 pm.
